Mon Dec 28, 2009, 2:16 PM
Here's the e-mail I received from the coordinator. Please RSVP promptly :]. PM me with your contact info so I can find you.

==========

Hi Virginia,

Thank you for scheduling a volunteer project at the San Francisco Food Bank!

We’re looking forward to you and your team’s support on Thursday, December 31st from 12:30-3:30pm for a maximum number of 7 participants.

If anything changes, or for whatever reason you are unable to make this shift, please contact us immediately so that we can update your reservation. Even small changes require some adjustment of our production schedule, so we thank you for helping us plan ahead.

Your project will be held at our warehouse at 900 Pennsylvania Ave. Below you will find important information about the project and directions to the facility.

Your volunteer support will mean that thousands of pounds of food will be distributed at meal and pantry programs throughout the city. Thank you for joining the movement to end hunger in San Francisco. We look forward to working with you and your group!

Visit us on our blog, Twitter, & Facebook

The San Francisco Food Bank works to end hunger in San Francisco. We provide donated and purchased food to over 400 non-profit agencies, enabling them to give nutritious meals or supplemental groceries to thousands of low-income families and individuals in our community. These agencies range in size and mission, from the city’s largest soup kitchens to smaller agencies such as after-school programs, AIDS service providers, battered women's shelters, child care centers, food pantries, health clinics, homeless shelters, residential programs for people in recovery or transition to independent living, senior lunch programs, and street outreach programs. We are the largest distributor of food to non-profit agencies in San Francisco; for many agencies, we are their only source of food. This year, we will distribute 36.5 million pounds of food, or enough to provide 78,000 meals a day.

*** Please contact us right away if there are any changes to the project that you have scheduled for yourself or your group. Because we have limits on the number of volunteers per project, fluctuations in number will significantly impact the amount of food we’re able to distribute. Please call 415 282 1907 x350 if you need to make changes to your volunteer project reservation so that we may plan accordingly.***

ATTIRE: It's important to dress in layers, as the temperature in the warehouse is often cool. Because you'll be helping to repack food, please wear casual and clean clothing, long pants, securely fastened jewelry, and comfortable (no open-toe) shoes. Anyone wearing sandals, flip-flops, or any other shoe with an open toe will not be able to participate in the project.

PARKING INFORMATION:

Weekday volunteers: Street parking is free, and our block has a new 4-hour time limit-- perfect for our volunteer shifts! Please utilize available street parking so that our agency shoppers can use our parking lot to load their vehicles.

Evening and weekend volunteers: You're welcome to utilize our parking lot as agencies do not shop at this time. Additional street parking is free and abundant.

WHERE TO REPORT: We ask all volunteers to sign in upon arrival.

For weekday daytime shifts, please report to our reception area at the northeast corner of the building (if facing the Food Bank from the street, it's the area closest to you on the right side) to sign in.

For weekend shifts and evening shifts, please report to the south side of the building, entering through the central pedestrian door. Signs will direct you to the volunteer break room.

OUR VOLUNTEER DEPARTMENT STAFF: George Gracia, Robert Alvarez, George Lazaneo, JC Osborn, Andy Breunig and Will Carpenter, the Project Leaders, will be training your group and managing the food sorting projects.

MORE INFO: You may wish to visit our web site (www.sffoodbank.org) or encourage others to do so if they're interested in learning more about our organization.

Hello, Clubbers!! An Update!

Sat Dec 26, 2009, 11:26 PM
Even if you don't have time to do volunteer work for and hour or two, GOT CANS?

Each can is worth about 30 minutes of volunteer service :]

As for community service day, I am planning for the 29th of December. I hope all of you can come. I'm planning for it to be at Food Bank, which I still need to check the location of (where we could donate the cans at the same time). I also need to see if this community service project gets permission (I didn't know we needed permission :/ ). Also need to e-mail Food Bank people. See if the day is open :]

See you guys, hope you're having a great holiday!
(PS. I'm stopping by Pearl Art Store Downtown tomorrow xD )

=====

Additional Information:

I'm e-mailing people about this day and trying my best to be an adequate president.

The LOCATION:

900 Pennsylvania Avenue
(You guys know which city and state. We don't want any stalkers.)

I'm going to try to give rides, I'll need to ask my aunt.
But if others can, that'd be cool too.

ALSO, so far the following people are able to come:

Wacky Penguin
FULLMA
Brandoll
Elizabeth Kim
Narwhal Cartaker
Me and my cousins

These are all the people who've responded. If you can, please get as many people to chip in, for cans or volunteering. It's funner to volunteer with friends :<
You don't even have to be in the club to help out xD
From what I read, we'll be in canned food warehouse :]
It's cold there.

Manga Club: Please Read

Tue Dec 22, 2009, 11:37 AM
I forgot there were people on vacation too, but for those who aren't going somewhere yet:

I'm thinking about going to the SF Food Bank to Volunteer.
Since we need about a total of 25 hours, I can't do it alone, so please, everyone try to chip in an hour or so!

We'll have to do this during the weekday, because weekends are packed. And please RSVP quick about what days of the week you could help out. I'll need to e-mail Food Bank to ask if the day is available.

Thanks for your help ~ These hours are due after winter break, apparently.

Have a nice holiday ~

(Please reply this time, because this will probably mean the end of the club if we don't get hours in :/ Well, mostly my fault too. )

MANGA CLUB NEEDS SOME VOLUNTEERS

Sat Dec 19, 2009, 10:03 PM
I seem to always forget to announce these things during club.

Each semester every club (excluding those that already do volunteer services) needs to fulfill at least 25 hours of community service, with those 25 hours coming from 5 different people (don't have to be members).

Thing is, we have 0 hours down, and I don't know where the beach clean-up is. I'm up for suggestions and such. If we can get ten or twenty people to gather up and work for an 1.5 hours or so we could have all our hours done.

So as of now, I'm up for suggestions as to what to do. I mean, Megan told me about the beach clean-up being every other weekend, but I don't know what beach. What time, etc.

=======

On other news, please somehow send your secret santa to your victim by Christmas Eve.

=======

Also, about AOD.

Felicity needs these forms by Monday or she'll bite your head off. YARLY.

[link]

Please fill them out, all people selling at AOD.

=======

And lastly, MERRY CHRISTMAS!! CHERISH THE FREE (ish) TIME!!!!!

SO WE DON'T NEED PERMITS TO SELL AFTER ALL.

SO I'M GUESSING WE NEED TO START ON SAMPLES/PRINTS/PRACTICING.

MEGAN AND CO. HAD THE IDEA OF COMPILING A BINDER OF REFERENCES FOR POPULAR ANIME/MANGA. WHICH IS A GOOD IDEA.

HAVE YOUR SECRET SANTA THINGS READY BY MONDAY UNLESS YOU CAN CONTACT YOUR PERSON THROUGH INTERNET OR SOMETHING.

OVER WINTER:
- Samples
- or Prints

ALSO:
Got any ideas about what we should do on Monday?

*Sorry for dumping so much on you guys. Lots to do. Good luck. I don't know I why I used so much caps.
